Trouble opening the site- ok for now

For the last two days I’ve been having trouble opening the site from Chrome. Anyone else?

Yes, for the past few days, it would spin for up to a minute, then open the site. Then another minute to open the forum. Earlier today, the site opened much quicker, but, the forum was down. Now it seems to be back to normal. I only use Chrome.

Similar issue on IE. Would not open last night. This morning was fine then issues again this afternoon.

I’ve also have had the same problem for the past two nights couldn’t get it to open on chrome or IE. Worked fine later in the night while I was at work though.

I’ve experienced similar problems with the site. My guess is that the FSM server can get overloaded very easily and everything just slows down.

I was having problems like that yesterday in the morning. But since the evening yesterday all is well.

Of all the sites I visit regularly, FSM is the one that I can count to to load slowly.

More to the point of the thread, off and on for the past few days it has been painfully slow (to the point I just give up). It’s even worse using VPN. So I agree with the gang, it’s not just you, Bill.

BTW, I mainly use Firefox so this issue the past couple of days doesn’t sound browser specific, I think.

I haven’t seen any slow performance, in Chrome or Firefox. From landing on the main forum index page, to complete loading, takes about 15 to 20 seconds.

I’m running Firefox 61.0.1 and Chrome 67.0.3396.99, on Windows 10, over a cable Internet connection.

It may very well be a matter of traffic at the given time, that’s a reasonable theory.

A postscript…

I just got updated to Chrome version 68.0.3440.75, and tested accessing the forum again, and it was a little faster than before, about 10 second to complete loading.

Same reported issue here. Different computers / different locations / different internet providers. I am just being patient until the page loads

Other than the 2 times i could not get on, i am not having any issues. Its loading fine for me and i have a very slow connection.

…and tonight it loads like greased lightening. Go figure.

I cleared my Firefox cache the other day, perhaps a corrupted cache???

It still seems odd that of all the sites I visit regularly, this is the slow poke.

Bill, I had the same issues. I use the same search engine as you. There was a period of time that I could not even get onto the site. A few times it errored out saying the site was down.

Another curious oddity is happening. I am not recieving emails from my WIP posts. Normally I get a copy of what I post. Not now. Also, I don’t get all the reponders via email either.

This site is so glitchy.

I’m locked out of here on my iPad now… unable to log back in on that device… wonder how long until my phone goes the same way.

If I go silent on this site suddenly in the next few days, that will be the most likely cause…

I was able to login to FSM on my MacBook. I could not login to FSM on my PC because I was using an incorrect password. How could that be since the supposed incorrect password worked on my MacBook??? Anyway, I updated my password to a new password and now I can login on my MacBook and PC.

I’m too stubborn to change my password…

They need to get their IT act together here…

These issues are too numrous to even list anymore.

My computers at home have been fine. IE, Firefox, Chrome- no problems with FSM. I go to visit my Daughter in Va and use the spare IBM T400 laptops… disaster with IE and Firefox- No log-on and slow speed as a guest. but Chrome in Incognito okay although slow. The next day all worked okay but still SLOOOOOOOOW.

I come back to Philly, all still normal and fine.

No doubt some issues could be Cookies. The new outfit that FSM went to is obviouly handling things differently. Cookies help customize a Web page for you among other things. Usually I consider them quite useful although they do record info on your visit.

My wife says, “Maybe the cookie dough is bad or needs more (computer) chips”.

I think she is on to something.

Nino.
