This aircraft is the prototype for all-metal cantilever twin-engine bombers. Layout of this aircraft was reproduced all over the World since 1930, after the first international appearance. All following multi-engine bombers added no radical layout changes to this aircraft except aerodynamic and structural refinement, number of engines and guns, and different levels of equipment sophistication. This aircraft began as a concept for a torpedo bomber and made it’s first flight in November, 1925. After some design changes, it made it’s second flight in June, 1926. State acceptance trials ended in March, 1929 when the aircraft was approved for military service.It’ carried all necessary equipment (radio, navigation, etc.) and was armed with three machineguns on three turrets. 730kg of bombs could be carried inside the fuselage. Preparations for mass production started in mid 1928.
