This aircraft was a stubby, somewhat plump-looking aircraft whose fuselage was similar to that of an earlier design. It had a T-tail, and a single turbojet engine. The wing was a unique high, shoulder-mounted moveable design. The unique tail design was free-floating, resulting in sluggish control, and the design often caused pilot-induced oscillations, causing the plane to be nearly uncontrollable much of the time. In 1950, two prototypes were contracted and the first flight took place in 1952. The plane had stability stability and control problems; after 32 flight tests for a year, the project was cancelled, along with an order for 116 aircraft. The application data collected proved valuable in perfecting later aircraft. The sole flying aircraft and the uncompleted second prototype were used for barricade testing, and the static test aircraft was later used as a gunnery target.
