Taking a short break from the work bench thought I would pose a question. In it’s entirety what battle was the worst in terms of losses to the American forces in W.W.II. Hope this is in the right forum.
Battle Of The Bulge
in the eto i think it would be the battle of the bulge or hurtgen forest in the pto i think iwo jima or tarawa
The Battle of the Bulge is correct, over a million men 500,000 Germans and 600,000 Americans 81,000 American casualties including 23,554 captured and 19,000 killed.
Nothing “trivial” about those figures.
Speaking about the Hurtgen Forest… There is a stone monument with a bronze plaque located at the Hurtgen Military Cemetery dedicated by the veterans of the US 4th ID to the memory of German Army Lt. Friedrich Lengfeld who died on Nov. 12, 1944 as a result of severe wounds received while attempting to help a wounded American GI out of a mine field.
