This aircraft was designed and built to meet Canadian specifications and conditions. It was purchased to meet a specification for an aircraft suitable for forestry survey and fire protection control work.The aircraft was of a conventional single engine design, with the hull constructed of cedar planking over laminated elm frames.The whole tail was made of steel tubing. 44 of these general Recon and Patrol aircraft were built. Five versions were produced, including 2 amphibious versions and one with an enclosed cabin on an all metal hull. During the depression years this aircraft conducted forestry survey, fire protection patrols as well as fisheries and anti smuggleing patrols.
