I cracked this kit open and added Voyager’s PE set to it. Not the best, and definately not for a show, but I used it for practice and to learn. Let me know what to do better/different next time. Thanks for looking.
I am really only proud of the Muffler. I think it looks real.
That looks awesome! [tup] I like those oldies [:)]
How was the kit?
How is your Brummbar coming along?
Look’s pretty good from here[tup]
I like the finish, not over the top with loads of mud and damage just nicly used looking…very nice.[8D]
Looks very nice! Great job! Just the right amount of weathering, makes it look like it’s been busy. [:D]
Its a great build,Ted! This has inspired me even more, to get a few of these now. The weatherin’ is nice, and I like the texture on the lower hull, gotta’ have texture! I’m not sure about those gun sights though, they could never have been used 'cos they cannot be viewed through! I’m not sure! Nonetheless, its a great build Ted!
Looking good Ted. Did you follow John’s painting SBS?
Great job! The white line running under the numbers and over the rivets is really superior. Nice color on the tool handles. They add a nice contrast.
No complaints here Ted! Great job!
Looks great to me! I like your weathering…
hey ted–[:D]-- super looking build-- and you are right— the muffler (along with the rest of the build) looks quite realistic-- super job man!![tup][tup]— tread–[:P]
Thanks folks. Much appreciated. I received some comments on the seams on the turret. I will have to pay closer attention next time to this facet.
Niiiice work Tinkerer! Looks like show quality to me! Great weathering job! I really have to get one of these Tristar kits. Is it the E/F or G version? I still don’t know the difference!
Is this plastic model as same as I make? Unbelievable…
Why don’t you make dio?
Good to see you keeping busy over the holidays Ted! Does the kit come with clear blocks for the commander’s cupola? I’ve got this one along with the G in the stash and have heard good things about this series from Tristar. Other than the fit of the turret plates, anything else to watch out for in the build?
Bufflehead, It is the E/F kit, and it’s a really nice model to build.
Fitz, If you are building a Tristar, than yes, it is the same kit. I am planning a dio, just not at this moment.
Bill, Yes, I did not add the clear vision blocks. I didn’t use them because they added little to the finished look, being recessed inside as they are and I didn’t plan on leaving any of the other vision ports open. As far as the fit of the turret, there is no real issue, it was a mistake on my part to exagerate the seams and this was not the proper way of going abut this. Thanks for looking.
Tinkerer - You must be kidding. That’s a fabulous build. Excellent. I was reading the reviews of this kit on the Perth site. Stated that this kit sets the new standard for accuracy and detail. So I just had to go out and purchase one. If mine turns out half as good as yours, I will be elated.
Grrrrrrrrrrrreat job.
Larry
That’s a nice build. The subtle weathering is very appealing.
