I was unpleasantly surprised to find a very poorly made kit!
Since this was my first experience with Mach2, does anyone have comments about this manufacturer?
Thank You!
I’ve built their F2Y-1 and bought but not built their AJ-2, HUP, HO3S, TBM-3W, and Alize. Without exception, the price was high and the quality of the kit was low. However, in most cases, theirs is the only injection molded kit of the type, and can be made into a decent model with a lot of work.
As far as I know, my friends who bought the Breguet Atlantic long ago were relieved to know that Revell released it; it seems that Mach 2 quality of production is very constant, unfortunately.
I had the misfortune to encounter their Kaman Huskie. I’ve never seen such a shoddy product. To think I could have bought the 1/32 AMT (?) Huskie for the same price…
I think the 1/32 Huskie was a Testors or Hawk kit.
I suppose Mach 2 is like most other French companies, keep the good stuff at home and export the crap.
I’ve seen what comes out of a Mach 2 box and would never throw money at the stuff myself.
It’s a harsh reality that sometimes the only game in town is very poor quality. I got Special Hobby X-15-A2 - I expected a lot from the price and was disappointed. It’s a problem that has no cure - or at least the only cure is extensive re-working of the original kit…
