hey guys-[:D]-- here is a t-34 progress report— I finished making the linkage that works the louvres for the engine cooling fan-- it busted my chops for some reason, but was the last piece of interior I had to do-- the next pic is of the road wheel with tire as it should look- this was hard to do-- needed to make special tools to grind and hold the tires–they are separate pieces of rubber like material-- all 20 of 'em–the next pics show the color of tread’s treads-- lol-[(-D]-and the last 3 of the outer hull -I re worked the kit fenders to an acceptable degree–and did what i could to the kits spare treads to make them look o.k.— all this is on going and new to me as I have never worked with artists oils before-- so nothing set in stone so to speak, but learning as I go-- any comments gratefully appreciated-- thanks for looking — tread-[:P]- p.s. this is post # 1000 for me —WHOO HOO![party]
Congats for both your 1000th post and your amazing work Tread!!! Man I love your work. It’s just like the real thing and I now officially ran out of compliments [(-D]
Keep up the amazing work! Can’t wait to see the fighting compartment!!
This model just blows me away everytime i see it, it really is hard to believe sometimes that it is actually a model at all, keep plugging with the oils Tread shes getting there bud. [:)]
[8D] It would be really neat to see all three of the 1/16 scale t-34 builds that are being displayed on this forum in the same picture for comparison when complete. [tup] Every one of them is an ingenious combination of art and engineering in their own right.
[:D]These models are a direct result of “build each piece as a model in itself, the result will be a work of art”.[#toast]
I can’t believe the realism , of the model , the attention to detail is awesome !. I have the WSN T34/85 , it is RC , it comes mostly assembled , any ideas on how to make it better , but remember it is RC . So it is meant to be " driven " around . Has anyone any ideas for this kit ? I am planning on repainting it . So is there any problems with partially disassembling the kit , but retaining its RC mode ? Also in its origional , out of the box form , it has " CYBOPOB " , written on the turret , representing a tank fom the 55 Guards Tank Brigade , in the Battle for Berlin , what does " CYBOPOB " mean ? Thanks in advance .
hi guys-- thanks for looking at my work and having such nice things to say — I really appreciate the comments!![:D]— the little soldier was a gift from my grand daughter for ‘grandpas’ tank’-- I promised I’d put a pic up on the forum for her-- so you know it had to be done!!-- thanks again guys— tread[8D]
hi Chris[:D]-- the base green is a custom mix of Model Master acryl- a little lightened and more olive than what MM offers for standard Russian green- washed and pin washed with black, yellow ochre and vandyke brown artist oils-- for the tracks and metal looking parts I use MM metalizer lacquer-- gunmetal mix with aluminum to lighten it- also burnt metal buffing metalizer on the saw and rear drive wheels and front idlers- each piece to its’ own needs–then a black and after dry a dark brown wash with artist oil paint thinned with turpenoid ( or sutable thinner)-( on the tracks)-I am using a very little crushed pastel (yellow ochre)-- also tracks have a nice even coat of Mig pigments’ Russian earth applied and also threw in a little Tamiya weathering master set A-- sand, light sand and mud to highlight some parts-- plus a whole lot of patience and tweaking of each color-- hope that helps you out dude-- am happy to answere all questions [:)]— tread[:D][:P]- p.s.- wbill and biffa both are experienced in this area and biffa has a great tutorial on using artists oil paints-- check out thier posts also-- only a couple pages back
thanks tread. i follow you, bill, and biffa alot. your tutorials have helped me out alot. i only use tamiya and polly scale acrylics. i was very close to buying some metalizer the other day, but didn’t really know how to apply it, or if anyone really used it. looks like i’m headed to the hobby store soon [:D]. i also read alot about vajello paints and was wondering if that would be a good investment. but if you and biffa don’t use it, and you get great results without it, i don’t think i would need it. i just bought me some artists oils. i have van dyke, burnt and raw umber and sienna and i thin it with minerial spirits. the only thing i found with my washing, is when i apply the brush, the wash comes off the brush and spreads like wildfire. so i think i need to focus more on this “oin” wash with a very small brush and just concentrate on the crevices. thanks again tread.
