Transporting a Panther G

Hello all,

I’ve been gone quite a while and am jumping back into the hobby head first.

I hope you follow along in the building of my Tamiya Panther G (with Eduard photo-etched parts) I will also be adding more PE from Lion roar, along with their barrel and Verlinden tank compartment engine accessories.

I will be placing my Panther G on Dragon’s Schwerer Plattformwagen Typ SSY, for transport.

I hope you enjoy the process.

I started last night…couldn’t sleep and got a decent amount done.

Here is the first step, in my Panther build…Eduard PE added, from the Tamiya kit and cut off the engine deck, to get the extras added.

I built the flatcar a while back but did away with the included molded ballast. I used the ties and rails with coarse RR ballast. It looks better this way. The wood planking grain is done really nice specially when several oil washes are applied to get multiple wood shades.

looks like a very cool project.will it be part of a railyard or station diorama ?

I had that Panther and messed it up badly when I screwed up the zim. Yah, I messed up the PE.

Anyway, good to have you back and look forward to what should turn into a great build.

Hey Eric:

Believe it or not, this is the first time I have ever used PE for the Zim. With how fragile the pieces are and having to super-glue them on, it’s a one shot deal. Once it’s stuck…it’s stuck lol

I haven’t thought about putting anything else with it, as of yet. if I can come across a nice looking building or such, I will add it. Any ideas?

Exactly. I got careless and tried to move it, but it was too late, I bent the crud out of it ripping it off. It equally made me mad that I already installed PE grills.

I have begun work on Dragon’s Railcar…not much progress but it’s coming along nicely:

Here is the roadbed, Plastickjunkie is talking about…I haven’t decided about this yet. I may go with it…and spruce it up:

Looks like you’re off to a fast start! I would echo the previous recommendation about creating your own railbed vs. using the kit supplied-styrene. Woodland Scenics offers some really nice in-scale railroad balast and if you get yourself a wood base, you can just lay the ties and rails directly into the balast and get a much more “unified” result. Looking forward to seeing more progress! [Y]
