Hi Guys. I’m a long time aircraft modeler but a newbie with armor. I have a basic construction question concerning track assembly. I’m building a Tamiya 1/35th Tiger I. Building each track requires gluing 100 links together. I’m worried that once I do this and take the time to paint the track I’ll end up with a rigid straight track that will be difficult to bend around the wheel assembly. I’m sure you guys have some tricks of the trade on doing this. Would appreciate if you could share them.

I have to admit that individual tracks is really a bane to modellers but I remember when I use to wish for them in place of the rubber band tracks of the older models. What I do is I put a few pieces togather in between assembly of the rest of the models. After cementing pieces of the kit, I put a few tracks at a time. The reason is when I do them after finishing the model, it gets to be boring. When it comes to the tracks that will go around the sprockets and the idler wheel, I put together enough tracks and use liquid cement. When the are already a little set, I wound them around the the wheels and keep them in place by tying a wire to keep it from going out of place. See to it that no cement get in contact between the track and the wheels otherwise it be hard for you to pry them out for painting.
