I have started a 1/12 scale kit Of Thor…The fit up was horrible but it is a good looking kit after the seams are filled. I have never used oils on a figure before but want to try on this one. So any helpful tips will be much appreciated.
He is lookin’ awesome. Im building the exact same kit right now, and I just finished priming today. I know what you mean about the fitting. The arms especially. it’s kind of wierd how there is that big overhang on the shouders, at first it seems as though they messed up but after looking at some pics of Thor I realized it is just his armor. Cant wait to see how yours turns out. the base is horrible to by the way.
The base is ugly…I am going to use some low density foam from work and carve a stone base and have him perched on it…should look better than the kit supplied one.
Thanks Walt…!
Ok…the latest shot with a base coat on everything:
LOL…Steve…I’m sure you’ll catch up in no time
Thanks Dwight…This has been a change; I wonder if I can muddy up his shoes ( the armor in me)?
Caseyn5…hope to see your Thor soon too!
Lastest update: I have added washes to the skin area, hammer , helmet, feathers and uniform, painted the knee guards, belt and wristbands, and drybrushed with tinted colors for highlights. I am still waiting for the base to dry…dum de dum…[^]
that is really cool. I love the base you made. I dont like the original base either, im trying think of some ideas for a new one for my Thor. I havent laid down the base coats yet, been busy with school and all. I my be getting a digi cam on friday so I will try and get some work done so I can post some pics. once again great job.
Thanks again everyone…Well, Thor didn’t do too well at the contest; he was totally outclassed by some of the nicest work I have seen to date. But it was fun… ~: )
