This model is just a piece of crap, sorry but it is what it is. This is the kind of kit that shouldn’t even be accepted today by the public. It is a poor kit that may be fine for those who have a LOT of experience on ship models, but will keep people away from the hobby.
SO if you want something, life boats, turrets, what ever, let me know. If i don’t hear anything into the trash it goes. As for trumpter, they will get no more of my business, their stuff is not worth my money. Tamiya will continue to get my business.

The Arizona is rough, but you would do yourself a disservice to base your judgment on all of their kits by how that one looks. I think it was their first one possibly? Their later kits, especially the 1/350th carriers, are great. No better plastic ship models out there, Tamiya included.

Other than the deck seams, flat “cartoon” style float planes, and the cheezy lower hull that was set up to be motoized, I don’t see how this kit is so bad. The molds and fit are equal to Tamiya and heads better than Revell. I’d give Trumpeter a call and voice your opinion to them.

I have built this model and although it is a copy of the Revell kit with its problems, it built into a nice display. I have a resin lit and it too has problems. The Trumpeter is way cheaper and I was able to purchase the photo-etched parts to make it a better model. I agree, the aircraft are bad, I left them off. The deck seam is no better or worse than the Tamaya kits.
Since you’re going to scape it, why don’t you make the underwater dio scene with teh memorial, you really can’t go wrong.

I am building thier Kuzenetsov aircraft carrier, so far not so bad. The upper/lower hull fit problem was no big deal, now to just putty the gaps. Just wished they put the SU-25 planes in the kit.[:D]
While I never built this kit I always considered it a cheap oversized copy of the revell kit (not very accurate). However, the newer Trumpeter kit’s are much better. If you haven’t given them to gharlane by now, I’ll take them. More spares for the box.

While I’ll admit that the Arizona stands in need of some improvement, remember that it was Trumpeter’s first effort, and, besides the shortcomings, builds up into a really nice looking display, if you take a little time and effort. There have been hardly any models that I have built (46 yrs. worth) that have fallen together, or, upon reflection, I could not have made a better job of. That’s one of the things that keeps me in the hobby, growth! Just count yourself lucky you weren’t around in the day when all we had to choose from was the Revell Arizona (still a nice kit) ant their smooth bottom Missouri. Today there are a multitude of good buidable kits available, the results limited only by thhe skill and perserverence of the builder. Don’t expect everything to be perfect out of the box, expand your skills,pick up that X-Acto knife and build, and have fun! (It’s a hobby ya know, not national security!) Take a look at the Trumpeter carriers in 1/350. I think you’ll like em.
