Torpedo boat V106

I started this Mirage 1:400 scale model to study some of the details not well shown in the drawings for my 1:192 model (seperate thread). The kit was pretty nice, even including PE parts. So I am painting and finishing it as a project of its own. I still need to put on the rest of the PE, and do a little more rigging.

Finished! All except for clipping a thread on the flag on the rear mast- I cloned that out in the second picture. Will clip it tomorrow.

I do not like Mirages railings-- too fragile. However, they look better to the eye than these photos, because my macro lens can focus much closer than my eye can!

That looks great. The pictures are a little dark however. It might be on my end. I was surprised to see this ship. I just started the same kit last week! I have the no PE version but I did buy some 1/400 railing and ladders. I was wondering what size rigging/thread you used and how’d you make the front white flag? That’s a nice touch. Thanks

The rigging is 5 mil monofilament thread. I bought it mail order from a place that sells fishing lure supplies  The stuff is so fine I had to wear black gloves (fingerless) to get enough contrast to see the thread!

I always scan the decal sheets before using any. If the flags are decals, I print out the flag areas on regular paper. After folding them over, I glue the halves together with diluted white glue. While the flags are still wet, they are soft and supple, and I bend in the waves and wrinkles, then glue them on model.
