I thought some of you might be interested in this. Since NASCAR has just started and is well unerway, I decided to make a model of one of my favorite drivers, Jimmie Johnson. I’m going for a high shine Chrome look. I think it will look downright awesoe once I get it finished up. I just painted it about 2 hours ago, and I wanted to show you guys. First, i put down a black primer, sanded it down. Then, white primer, sanded it, then, this coat. It is extremely light, you can still see some white showing through. Can’t wait till i put another coat on Friday.

Nice Pictures of Mirror-like finish.

I put another part of car, which is the blue for his car, next to it to show reflection.

So, how do the experts think it looks so far?

Great job Ryan!! I didn’t see one single piece of hair, or dirt in the finish…it’s a shame you gotta put more coats on it, and risk dust again…You are a brave man indeed, as I hate painting silver chrome, and to put it on such a large surface must have been a pain. Just keep in mind that silver chrome never seems to dry completely, and there is always a little bit that will rub off on your fingers. Try to not man handle it too much until you can get a nice gloss coat, or some protection over it…Cotton gloves work the best!!

Can’t wait to see more of your work, it really is a winner!!

Looks good so far

Good luck with your chroming job, Ryan… braver man than me! [:)]

Take care,
Frank

Looks very good so far, good luck with the next coat. NASCAR is usually on around 5am Monday morning for me so I generaly see the first hour or 2 before heading for work.
