(MY MOOD OF THE DAY)
blackcat your question gives quite a bit of leeway for answers. i believe i know what question you are asking so i will try to answer it. my favorite model to date is the avg bird i did as pappy boyington’s bird. i did a lot of cutting and slashing to get it the way i wanted but it was to me the most satisfying to date. the kit began as a 1/48 revell/monogram p-40b.

A number of years ago, I completed a CAF Dakota in 1/48 for a friend, and like Joe said, with alot of filling and scatch building. As it turns out It was one of my favorite builds.[2c]
Hi blackcat!
You sure like those forum smilies , don’t you?[:D] My favourite was the Monogram B-52D that I did as “Big Country Bomber” of the 96 BW in the Viet Nam camo. I put so much work into getting everything just right and it really looked awesome with the black paint and “Flying 2” on the tail. Sadly, I no longer have it as it was somehow lost when I moved.
Well mine was the 2nd attempt at doing a F4J(UK) ,
I used the Tamiya kit in 1/32 , i really enjoyed doing that one
Lets see…I average at minimum 2,100 road miles every thirty days for work, train three times a week and play on Saturdays from February to May and then from September to November, coaching from June to August. Work projects around the home, spending time with my son and wife, occasionally sleeping and eating…What is my favorite kit…what ever I am working on at the moment…cause the moment is all mine…
My favorite model is which ever one I have just finished building. I try to make each one a little better than the one before, so I always like the last one. Currently, that is a 1/48 Monogram (Revell) F-105D in the 1965 silver finish. Pictures can be viewed at: www.bellevillercflyers.com/gallery/album94

One that I remember fondly is a Mono Colonial Viper. I put a cockpit from a 1/48 Mono
Starfighter and used some decals from a 1/48 Revell Starfighter! All my friends wondered what kind of new a/c the Air Force was flying! LOL
that’s a tough one…I guess it would have to be an F4U Corsair I did just before setting aside modeling for about ten years…first time building a diorama to go with the model and the paint job came out nicely.

My favorite? My B-25J “Emergency Strip”

Since these pics I’ve attached her antennas. I plan to weather her more, fix the cowling frame on the port engine, add brake lines on the gear, and place her in a maintenance themed diorama. Someday…
Oh yeah… I didn’t fully answer your question.
I used some after market materials like the port engine from Verlinden Productions, various photo etched parts from Eduard, and some resin parts from Meteor Productions.
For weathering I plan to use the “Swanny technique”. And a few of my own secrets![}:)]
Gave you a few more links there blackcat in anticipatioin of any follow-up questions you’re likely to have.[;)]
Just to put in my $.02, I would have to say my 1/72 Big Bad Beautiful B-52 I did in '95. I put my heart and soul into that project. I scratch built the details I added. I spent weeks perfecting the mix for her paint job. It was my first time using setting solution for my decals.
I no longer have that on display however, whereas my exwife decided that the best way to get back at me when I aggravated her was to see if that beautiful BUFF would really fly.
Anyone wondering why she is an EX?

Has to be a tie between the Israeli F-16A and A-10…both from Revell or Monogram for sure because I bought them at K-Mart. There was something about doing those camo jobs that I just loved. I don’t even know where those puppies are now.
Altho I’m not building planes too much my favorite (just for now) is fw 190 1/32 cos there was so many scratch that I just like it the most
I think my current favorite is probably the RAAF F-111G in my signature.
I love the F-111, love roundels with kangaroos in them and most importantly this build taught me to appreciate the straight from the box build all over again.
I made the pitot from a needle, but beyond that she is what came in the box.
