I have recently recieved the 1/32 scale Hasegawa F-16 A/C and decals for a F-16N with cool artwork for the tail. Are the aircraft externally similar, such that a conversion would only require minor adjustments OR is it time to shop for new decals for an USAF aircraft? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ALL HELP.
There was a string on this a while back but I can’t find it. The original F-16Ns were production (small inlet?) F-16Cs (Block 30?) powered by the GE F-110 engine. My references state that the M-16 gun and stores pylons/racks, except for those on the wingtips were removed. For what it’s worth, the radar was the APG-66 installed in the F-16A. They carried a Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) pod on the right wingtip and a Sidewinder on the left. They were also delivered with Radar warning (ALR-69) and chaff/flare dispensers (ALE-40) but the ASPJ equipment was reported not installed.
However, after the original F-16Ns were grounded by bulkhead cracks in 1998, they were reportedly replaced in 2003 by embargoed ex-Pakistani F-16s, which were A models, which would likely cause some configuration confusion…
