I responed to an artical called “what models are you working on now?” To my amazment most of you who responded where working on multible models. If not 2 to 3 then 10 to 15!
Do most of you guys build multi models and were do you find the space? Have you ever accidently Kitbashed?lol. I have enough trouble keeping track of one.
Nice looking Hawg. I usually work on 2 to 4 models at a time, either 1/72, 1/48 or maybe both. I bought several of the cheap desk drawer organizers with all of the little cubby holes and I keep the parts for each model in a separate organizer. I use a 2’ by 5’ work bench that is very cluttered, but I keep a lot of stuff in small storage boxes stacked on shelves under the bench.

I’m with Yardbird…
I usually work on 2-3 models at any one time…and I have a bunch of little plastic containers that I use to store the smaller parts for each model, and they in turn go into a larger plastic container that will hold the entire model.
The containers have lids so that if I am forced to place that particular model onto the back burner, then on goes the lid and the whole box gets temporarily stored.
It’s not hard to work on multiple models at once…in fact, it’s easier, cuz while you wait for paint or glue to dry, you can work on something else on the other model(s).
I have boxes packed on top of boxes, plus an airbrushing table (some projects sit there while drying) and a 30X72 desk where there is only a 6x6 space in which to do work, and a reference desk that is 18x30 where 70% complete projects sit.
It’s mine and I love it - my wife on the other hand refuses to enter other to stick her head in
and when she does stick her purty li’l head in, she gets this really strange tick in her right eye.
most of the time it is one at a time but on a rare occasion it becomes a multibuild i tend to have one on the computer desk upstairs and the others separated downstairs.
I try never to build more then 3 models at the same. I usually have one long term project, and one or two short term projects. I try to choose models which require the same colours, so I can use my airbusing time in the most effecient way.
As for storage, I keep al small parts on the sprue or in plastic zip-bags whilst building. There’s usually one model on the working area and one in the spray-booth.
I tried the “one at a time” but I am VERY impatient…
So I have a few on the go at the same time. I build on one, when parts are curing, I build on another, than I have one “quick-build” just to slap some glue on, and to perfect skills like scribing/sanding/priming.
I like the build process the best, but cant stand a model without paint on it, so…
I have also promised myself NEVER to do a colorful project again, but I just can’t help myself[:D][:D][:D]
I try not to start more than 3 at one time. I have a fairly large bench, so I could work on as many as 5, but I have found if I get too many going, none get finished in a timely manner.
Depends on how you define it. I got four on the bench, well really five cuz I´m bashing two together. Two in the R&D stage. And more than I care to count in the closet chanting build me build me every time I open the door! And Mosquito Maiden, thats a “crowded house” I guess things got real interesting for ya´ll about dinner time!
yeah, 2 or 3 is good enough for me. allthough, in the past, i would get in the cockpit detailing mode and do about 4 or 5 cockpits and get the fuselage halves joined then put them away and circle back around and assemble them in an orderly fashion.
I have one bigger project going and smack out one or two quicker ones to keep the “flow.” Otherwise the big project (right now my A-24) will sap all of my creative energies and I will build no more.
“Variety is the spice of life” or so they say. I think what I have on the go now is the most I have had going at one time, usually no more than two. [:D]
