I just finished and didn’t have any problems with the fit or accuracy of the kit. When I painted the “turret” I left the gun mount separate from the turret walls and then assembled it when it was dry. I painted it in a late war scheme of green (Tamiya Field Gray) basecoat with dark yellow splotches. It’s a very good kit and I think you will enjoy building the Wirbelwind.
Thanks kaleu.I would like to see pictures of your wirbelwind if possible to see the paint scheme you did.Thanks.
Nick
[:)]I built this kit about 18months ago. You should have no problems, it builds very nice. the only problem I had was the tracks age hardened and broke up.
I replaced them with Acedemy Indy links, its fine now.
It was the first kit I’ve built after a 60yr layoff, I bought the kit for £1.00 from a charity shop and started me into building once again…Kenny
Nick,
I will try and get pictures taken soon. Enjoy the build.
Hey, just informing you that I am the new P-51ace65, I just changed my name,so…
Are you talking about the old Tamiya kit (35085)or did they issue a new one ?
Im not sure where to find the code but I think it may be 35233, it says TAM-35233
Thats the kit # Nick. That’s a newer issue than mine(35085) I would guess .I purcased it10 yrs ago. It was a good kit then but i don’t know if 35233 is the same or better.
