Any ideas of what would be the best way to apply the gold\yellow stripe that goes around the hull of the Titanic? I believe it goes between the black and the white areas of the hull.
Take your BRAND NEW #11 and cut a 3/32nd strip of Gold metal Foil for it, it is the only way it can be done.

Ditto on the gold foil, I tried to mask and paint mine but screwed up pretty bad. I’ve seen others have success with decaling it but I haven’t tried that method myself. Also heard of using a paint pen but my hand isn’t nearly steady enough to make a straight line that long.
I went to auto parts store. Bought narrowest gold pinstriping I could find. Used new razor blade to cut into strip 3/32" wide, peeled off backing and applied. Looks great.
One of the problems with the auto pin striping is that it will not lay “into & around” the steel plates and rivets. Better to use the foil. Cut a 4" long lenght and work them one at a time. it’s not impossible but will take an hour at least.

This forum is more helpful for modelers than anything else I’ve found.
I’m sure a lot of modelers would agree with me. Thanks for everyone’s help.
Yes. When you throw a question out on techniques like you did, you’ll almost always get more than one way of doing something. Then it’s up to you to pick the one you will use. I doesn’t matter which one you chose, the only one you must satisfy is yourself. Good Luck[:)]
Tim superb idea! Along with with gold foil idea…but I have never thought about using automotive pin-striping before for anything modeling related! Hmmmm maybe I’ll have to try some now…
