Hello there, my 1st post here. I’ve been lurking for a while. Hope to subscribe soon after I move on March 15.
I build mostly out-of-the-box. Recently I’ve got a F15E from Revell 1:32 at the big auction site. The seller listed it as complete but after receiving it I noticed the ‘‘real rubber tires’’ featured on the box were missing. I contacted Revell but the tires are no longer available. This is going to be my 1st 1:32 build and will be a prelude to the TAMIYA 1:32 version I already have. My question is, is there an aftermarket replacement for the tires? I can build the plane without landing gear but I’d love to display it landing gear out. Any help, suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

The seller has a great record, I understand that mistakes can happen. I’d feel very bad to be the 1st one to lower his rating. To make it up to me, he sold me a HASEGAWA 1:32 (early nineties) F16 Falcon dirt cheap.
Thanks a lot for your reply Jarrod. By the time I contacted REVELL, the new F15 was not available yet. If I contact them right now I would need the parts #, I have used their parts ordering system on their site (kudos to Revell) and they ask for the kit and part #. The kit number I can get, but the part # I don’t have and that’s assuming the new Revell is the same old mold with a few new sprues.
BTW, I’ve been thinking on adding a pilot to this model but can’t find a source for it. Can anyone give me some pointers on where to find a 1/32 F15 Pilot?
If you click on the link you have for the new F-15, there are instructions attached to it. Just download those and youll find the part #s.
Not sure where you would find a pilot for it, though. Unless you have the Academy F-18 or F-16 kits and use one of them…if they have the right gear…Good Luck.
Hurray, Jarrod, you just saved this model from going without landing gear because of this. I did noticed that basically is the same kit, better instructions sheet of course. Also noticed that although the tires are rubber, they are in two halves unlike the one piece tires that should have come with the kit back in the day. Coincidentally I started this project this morning. Thanks a lot for your suggestion, worked like a charm. Now I’m after a couple of pilots. Have a great day.
Glad I was able to help. I was wondering if the tires were rubber or plastic?? I`m probably one of the few that likes rubber…they quite often have better tread detail than some of the plastic ones.
I reckon the F-15 would look great mounted in flight with the gear up, as well.
Ill be curious to see how it goes together. Im contemplating the new F-15 E.
I too prefer rubber tires for the exact same reasons. To me they will be the first rubber tires in halves I get with a model. Unless I’m missing something, I saw this kit (the new one) advertised as with rubber tires. I had it in my hands the other day at my local Hobby Town but didn’t pay attention to that. Lets see what I get on the mail and I’ll post it here. Will post some pictures of the finished model too.
I’ve got today Saturday the tires for my F15 from REVELL. Unlike the model I’m currently building (kit # 4755) the tires on the new REVELL F15E are plastic instead of rubber. Apart from having lots of flash on the sprues, assembly has been a breeze with no warping at all on big pieces except for the canopy where I forecast at least an hour to make it fit properly. The bird is ready to get on its feet with the tires on hand. It is ready for decals but seem like this kit was stored in a damp humid place that the decals are damaged. They do slide out with a very noticeable milky white backing.
So, at this point I’ll have to go with AM decals or settle for the Tiger Meets squeme [*-)] I might wrap this kit in a kitchen plastic bag to keep dust out while I decide over the decals [bnghead]
Revell is usually quick to replace parts, and it looks like they were this time as well. I wonder if they could supply you with replacement decals? Otherwise, I`m sure there are plenty of aftermarket decals available. The Tiger Meet looks nice.
Hello Jarrod, as soon as I noticed the decals weren’t good, I went back to Revell’s site and ordered a sheet of the Tiger Meet. The order went thru so lets see if they deliver. If they don’t., I’m willing to pay for them. I’ll keep you posted. I took the bird off the bag to snap these 2 pictures for you. At the moment its waiting there with a coat of Future Gloss.
There is one of these sitting at my local hobby shop, that I thinking about. Keep up the great work, and look forward to seeing more photos as you progress.
