Tips on Motorization: Verson 2.0

If you havn’t seen the first one of this, then you don’t know that I plan to motorize a gigantic project in the future. See below for what it is.

Now that you know, any tips on this would be helpful. But there’s one stipulation- the last topic mainly concerned voltage, amperage, batteries, etc. I’ve got that part figured out! [:D] Now, I need help on more techincal (I guess) issue of installation. Just for starters-

What would be the best way to mount them? (I’m using the 1:72 Ju 290 kit offered by Revell Germany)

I heard that the rapidly spinning shaft can sometimes melt the motor detail, and that you should use some sort of metal sleeve around it to prevent this. What about this?

Feel free to add to this. (Reminder- I’ve already figured out how I’m going to wire this curcuit, and what type of power source I’m going to use. I just need help on mounting and installation.)

I never ran my motorized kits longer that 10 ot 15 secounds at a time. If you planned on some long run times I would look into a nylon type of busing between the plastic nose cases and use a brass sleeve around the rotating shaft. If you don’t have some sort of insulator between the metal and plastic even if they were sleeves you would still get some heat transfer. Or if you have a short true runing shaft just leave a little air gap around the shaft and plastic nose case. Good luck!
