How do you avoid decal film carrier appearing in natural metal finishes?
Here is my dilemma: Stencils → I can not cut the carrier film. If I use dry transfers the universe of products is too few for anyone’s needs.
Both on Alclad, Testors and above all, foil… The carrier film is visible and worst: it is too visible!
I am about to give up tring to solve this problem but does anyone has a magic receipt to avoid this? Tell me how do you do please.
Have you tried spraying varnish or applying future onto the decals after they are dry?
I’ve just had a quick look at an Italeri B 25 I built last year, no visible carrier film on it .
I used an acrylic car paint (Nissan silver), Humbrol Decalfix, the kit decals, then Humbrol semigloss varnish. I usually ‘dry off’ the decal with a bit of old T shirt when it’s in position too. maybe it’s a combination of that & the Decalfix that avoids the carrier film.
Or maybe I was just lucky!
