tips for a new guy

I am going to get into modeling again(I havent modeled in 10 years) I was wondering about tips for detailing tanks. The first new kit I bought is a 113 and I want to trick it out with exta gear and especially I want to do rolled up camo netting. I have some medical gause but I was wondering about how to go about making it look rolled up and weathered. any help would be great. thanks

Welcome to the Dark Side Balashivo91. Looking forward to some pics. Is that the new desert storm version by Tamiya.

Welcome to FSM Balashivo91. Good to have you join us here in the Armour Forum.

For your camo net, cut the gauze approximately the size that you want it and position it on the model. Then apply a mixture of 50 / 50 white glue and water and allow this to dry. Paint the netting your colour of choice, then dry brush it with a slightly lighter colour. I would then dust it with pastel chalks as I weather the rest of the vehicle.

Hope this helps a bit.

Welcome to the forum,

For the camo net I do like Shermanfreak said but I also like to add some little sticks in the netting. If you ever had to roll up a real camo net, you know way I do that.

Don’t be affraid to ask any question someone around here will give you some kind of answer.

Welcome back into modeling! Looking forward to seeing your work, Joe
