Cool! [H]

If you need the plastic sheets ( and you will, eventually), this is the guy to get 'em from… Sells the clear ones and white…

There’s another guy that sells the clear sheets for less money, but his don’t have the holes in them, and are a b*tch to get to seal… You’ll burn through 5 or 10 of his before you get one that’ll seal properly…

Thanks Hans…!

With all respect Manny I think you’re missing the point. I’ve surfed these forums and other websites and compiled a notebook of great ideas and tips and the best come down to the basics.

There’s nothing wrong with Testors from a tube - unless you apply it directly from the tube.

The second I’d put right behind the first is simply : TEST FIT. TEST FIT. TEST FIT.

Perform each step of the assembly until you can do it blind folded. But don’t.

I was going to start a new tips/tricks thread but when I searched there was already a few, it’s interesting reading about what tips and tricks others use. I wouldn’t call mine tips or tricks really but I make a copy of the paints page on the instructions and hang it on the wall so I don’t have to go back and forth on the directions.
Also I use daily contact lenses and the little plastic disposable cup they come in is great for mixing paints and thinning paints.

A quality pair of Nippers !
ZM , Tamiya 73421 and God Hand .
PE bender (Small Shop) Bug . Sadly Small Shop is no longer around .
Dspiae and Meng make good benders I’ve heard .
A good quality light for working under .
This one is kinda silly but a good quality Chair , for your build bench . Fatigue while sitting for a extended time can be a real downer !
Air Brush and Compressor .

Definitely the ability to design and print my own decals at home. Something over half of what I’ve built in the last ten years have been ā€˜custom decal’ projects: local police/fire/emergency assets, civil and military aircraft for which aftermarket decals (for those cool schemes that catch my eye) are frustratingly non-existent, and space, sci-fi and ā€˜wild hair’ vehicles that are effectively unique.
Having that ability to make my own markings has reshaped what I buy as well, since I’m often chasing a ā€˜closest’ kit to convert or modify into those special projects!

I use AI for multiple aspects of modeling, 1) you can have it color the car so you can see it before deciding on a final color, 2) you can have it give you paint ratios for mixing specific paint manufactures to pretty much any color. Or cross reference paint to match other manufactures colors 3) it can offer building advice if you run into a trouble area or need a quick tutorial or reference. 4) it can help with scaling.

Yeah I know AI will be the demise of human civilization but might as well make use of it for good while we can.

I agree with all of your points, as I too use it in these ways. I recently used it to come up with unit specific bumper registration numbers for some U.S. WW2 military vehicles I built. As to the concern for our demise, I don’t care because I’ll be dead before AI becomes self aware…I hope!

Well I’m glad I’m not the only one that finds it useful, I will say it has steered me in the wrong direction once or twice and I had to correct it but all in all it helps quite a bit.
