tintin en avion...

hello chaps, any idea where I can find a plane like this…? it appears in " tintin le crabe aux pinces d’or

Do you mean the DHC-2 “Beaver”? Here it is.

Interesting - it’s not a Beaver. What’s pictured is a Bellanca 31-42 Pacemaker, according to:

http://membres.lycos.fr/wings2/tintin/crabe/crabe.htm

That web page also shows the cartoon of the airplane in the story which sort of resembles the Bellanca. However, the Beaver with a little reshaping would be close enough and I doubt that anyone ever put out a kit of this particular Bellanca…

I wasted a lot of time looking up Stinsons, Fairchilds, and Norsemans without success until it occurred to me to Google Tintin and find that someone had already done the research.

According to AirMag #19, Avril-Mai 2004, the only existing kit is an old, very old 1/48 kit from Hawk/Testors, labelled ‘Mr Mulligan’. You’d need to find floats, and it is recommended to take those from a 1/72 Arado Ar-196 (Airfix).

You’ll hate to know I built that kit over 25 years ago, and made a mess of it…

That would work too, and Testors has reissued the Mr. Mulligan kit.

Thank you all … now the quest to find it…

er, I didn’t though tintin was also popular in the usa…

I lived in Quebec for two years and my children liked the stories.
