Almost a week into it, and this is where I am at!

Saucer and secondary hull are all but complete… I now have to do the deflector dish and then will begin with the decals… The warp engines are being done seperately, and so I am still working on those aswell…
Chris
Awesome job Chris!! too bad I wont be here to see it progress [:(] Maybe you can email pics to me? I’ll try to drop in when I’m able to… Me is goin’ to work!![:)] and wont have internett for a while.
Great to hear about the news Ed… Take care, and we’ll be here when you get back!
Chris
…and we’ll be here when you get back! yup! see you soon mate! good luck on your job!!
chris: man, youre just killing me here man! awesome job!!
Thanks Cpt., And Ditto!! Chris yer killin’ me TOO!! show off [;)]
Thanks guys…
Here is another update, and the more I do on the this, the more I know I have a long way to go…
Anyways, I finished doing the aztec on the whole ship, and have done alot of detail work with windows and so forth. But I decided that I wanted to put it on a base to get an idea as to how she will turn out… I will say that I placed the warp engines on it, but they have not been azteced or detailed so they look pretty plain at the momment…
I have also done the deflector… I originally did it blue with red, but it looked a little strange, so I decided on a totally blue dish…

Some of the decalling for the saucer has been done, but I still have a few that have to go on, so it isnt finished either.

I didnt light this kit, but I wanted to try and make the deflector look like it was lit to give it some life… It looks like I splashed paint all over it, but dont worry, its just the flash from the camera.

Next to my 1/32 WW II Australian Mustang.

Alot of detail has gone into the saucer, but I still have to detail the main shuttle hanger door, aswell as the smaller 2 doors on the back of the neck.

Side shot on the base that will be used to mount it on…

Chris
chris, you sure you have a job? jeez, where DO you find the time? and how sweet she is turning out!! nice… doesn’t look you got that long a way to go as you posted…
i got inspired by your E-D, and remembered i still got a small E-D from a 3-enterprises in flight display box, which i started… its way smaller than yours, so i doubt i can get as much detail in it as yours has…
will post pics soon, where im at is, i glued the model together, except for the nacelles, and gave it 2 layers of primer. i still need paint for my DS9, so gotta make a mental note to bring paint for the 1701 as well. talking bout it, what colors do you guys advice on both models?
i want the enterprise to be in orig colors, as for the ds9 piece, i want it in original cardassian tan… any advice?
also, for the E-D, whats the easiest way to aztec it? dont think there are any templates for this scale…
any advice would be great…
thanks.
sponder.
Capt… I work from home now, so it allows me to work on stuff when I have a little free time here and there… Also like I said earlier, if I am sitting watching the news or something, I always have the model on my lap doing something.
As for the little D, I did that one about a years ago as with all the Enterprises, and looking back at it compared to this bigger one, it will definately have to be re-done at some stage… But after doing this one, I really cant see that happening for a long time…
As for colours, I dont go with the Duck egg theories, and I try to make my models look like they do on screen… So in saying that, I went with a base coat of Tamiya USAF Light Grey, and to give the aztec life, I did different sections in Tamiya Sky Grey, Neutral Grey, and a home brew mix of Sky Grey and blue…
After the aztec was down, I then gave a light spray of the Tamiya USAF Light Grey over the top, to allow the aztec to blend in and not be so contrasting… I think I have got it pretty well right for now…
All that is left is the warp engines, and finishing with the decals… I also have to finish the escape pods and windows on the lower saucer, and I have been considering doing some windows in white to give it the lit look… Will have to see how that goes…
As for aztecing the little one, then you will need to find something online that you can print out… I guess measuring it up, and then printing it down to scale… I wouldnt suggest hand painting on the little one as I dont think it would look very good… So my only suggestion is asking Arthur over at SSM if he has any for the small one… Thats where I got the masks for this one…
Also, I decided to take a pic of what I will be working on next!.. We need to get some more interest in on the Group Build also… I kinda feel like we are the only ones interested in it?.. And in all honesty, I am sick of even seeing my own work up on the board…

Chris
yup, we have to do something about both points there i guess… doing my best on the pics though…
this weekend i’ll go but some paint for the DS9 and the lil’ E-D, so i should have pics for you soon mate!
thanks for the advice on the colours and aztec!!
I have made no progress to report so I have just been lurking around.
The Dutch Nationals are this saturday, I am putting the finishing touches on a few figures that I’m going to enter. After that, Voyager is going to be my number one project, maybe I can post sone pics on sunday. But I don’t think that I can build as fast as you can!
You can get some fairly decent detail on that one. You just have to work at it a bit. Check out Clark Bradhsaw’s 1/2500 Enterprises decals at Starship Modeler. PNT Models also sells similar decals, IIRC.
You can indeed work out the aztec pattern and paint it on by hand or use the pattern to make masks for airbrushing/rattle can painting. I’ve got an E-D at home that I plan to finish when I get back wherein I took the aztec pattern, sized it down, very lightly scribed in the panel lines and then very carefully hand-painted the opposing color. So, just like w/the larger ERTL E-D, you can put the aztec pattern on and add some nice detail w/decals or paint.
Now that we are starting a group build… Do we get a banner to put in our sig? ![]()
Chris
thanks for the advice guys!
just wish i had more time to do some moddeling… i will try out the decals from SM!
chris, if we wanna continue with the GB, sure! im not really good in creating pics though…
Okay, here is my first picture post for this GB. Not only is this my first SF build, I also decided that I want to add light to my Voyager. Two reasons: the hull of voyager is so much bigger then the aircraft is useally build, so I thought this would make is much more easy. Secondly, I found some very cheap (€ 0,50) minature christmas lights at ikea, so I do not have to make an electric cicuit.
Because of the lighting I have coverd the inside of the hull with alumium foil. This will refelct the light and serve as a heat shield (it are minature light bulbs not LEDs).
Here’s my progress so far:

Well, its a start… I had a friend who did the voyager all lit up. If I can find his page I will link it for you to have a look… Best one I have seen so far… Never built one myself, but always interested in how they turn out when others build it… Looks like your on the right track…
Chris
Here’s the link to my friends Voyager… Might give you some ideas…

hee dollendwazen!! zie nu pas dat je uit utereg komt!! altijd leuk om andere nl-ers tegen te komen!! ![]()
oh btw, remco, i think you can get better results using leds for lighting up a model…much more options!! and it pretty easy too! let me know if you need any help there…

I never knew that it was off, dude. I actually pulled out my Cozmo Heavy Industries 1/2500 Federation-class Dreadnought when I got in from work this morning and started cleaning it up. Needs some minor sprue/pour mold cleanup then sanding.
