Tiger vs Sherman

Here is a link to an interesting combat that occured in Italy, 1944. Lots of good photos and diagrams of the action as well.

Brave soldiers!

well as oddball said “ya gotta get point blank and ya gotta get’em from behind!”

great site lots of pictures. I find it interesting that the Sherman shot the Tiger with the turret rotated so the barrel was over the engine {seems they were showing the enemy the weakest point of their tank} 20 to 30 yards into the engine and FIRE, second round to disable the tracks just in case. As Kelly said “the Tiger is an open field tank and we have them in a town with narrow streets” with all these positive waves…

A lot of the M4s bad reputation came from Normandy which was terrible tank country. It actually did quite well and had a good reputation in Italy and North Africa.
