Tiger interiour colour?

I’m building an early Tiger, on the instructions it says the inside colour is flat white. Is this true? Any suggestions on weathering the inside.
Thanks to all that reply.[;)]

The interior of Tiger 1’s was more of a Buff color. As the war went on, they did use a red primer inside the whole interior.

Cheers

Colin, it sounds like maybe you have the Academy kit?? I’ve got one also. I haven’t started on it yet, but someday…

Here is something that may be of help to you. There are reprints of two articles somewhere on the internet about acurizing the interior of the Academy Early and Mid production tigers. The one on the early keeps refering to the pictures included with the article for position/shape of parts, etc. However, there are no pictures included in the reprint, which limits the usefulness of the article. But there is a lot of good information in there. Also in the article, it states what the interior colors were and lists some humbrol paints that come close to the colors. (I’m at work, so I don’t have the info right at hand.) Anyway, one way to find the articles without doing what would probably be a lengthy search on the web is to go to Greatmodels web site (www.greatmodels.com), click on the database link on the left side of the window, and enter academy tiger in the search box. Find the listing for the tiger model in the resulting list and click on that. That will bring up their info screen on the model with a link shown on the left side labeled Review #1. Click on that and it will take you to the article which you can then print out to use for reference. I have found the mid production article useful also as there are pictures embedded within that article.

This sounds kind of like a round about way to get the info, but it isn’t really too bad. I wish you luck with your model. I hope this helps.

I came across this site featuring many pictures of the Tiger 1. Most of the interior shots are still in the origional color. (with some rust, of course)

Here ya’ go

Here’s an example of the interior shots:

A helpful tip is, remember your “color to scale”. What looks flat white on the larger vehicles, will stick out like a beacon on 1/35. For the interior of my Tigers, I use Flat white mixed with Model Masters Canadian Voodoo Grey to tone it down.

ive had a look in the turret of the tiger 1 at bovington and its a dirty white
