Thanks for the sad news. Looks like some extra painting is in order. The kit went together pretty nicely though. Looks pretty impressive compared to a Marder III on the shelf beside it. I can imagine what the Sherman guys felt when they saw the Tiger II.
Tiger? What Tiger?? Do I have a Tiger???
Oh yeah…you mean THAT Tiger!
message from new guy no tigerII had no rubber tires for cushion as far as the paint try alittle automotive brake cleaner on a Q-tip should take off any paint mistakes I have the same kit in closet also, great kit. Also when the shermanguys saw the Tiger II the said it was big as a house later
Not to highjack the thread, but I found a tecnique that works great for painting the rubber tires on the early Tigers and Panzer IVs and below. Airbrush the tire area of the wheel black, or whatever color you like to use for the rubber and then take a draftmans circle template (available at Staples or OfficeDepot) and find a circle that matches the steel part of the wheel. Hold the template in place and spray your wheel color or colors. Very simple, very fast. BTW, the templates are available in inch and metric sizes. I recomend the metric as all these kits are built in Asia.
Jim
That is a good tip and used by many modelers. Another that I haven’t tried, is to use a curved sharpie pen and then spray with a dullcote
I have yet to find a Metric circle template. We even looked in Canada. Also, ever try to find metric drills?? What a laugh.
I have used both methods mentioned by Jim, and Eric. They both work great for me, and reduce the time spent painting those god awful tires on the rims. Semper Fi, mike
Another method that works great and is fairly easy is to paint the wheels with the base tank color, (you can camo, too, if you want) then when cured, put Silly Putty in the center and work it out to the inner edge of the rubber part, then spray with your prefered rubber color. I really like Poly S Scale Black for this, myself.
to wipw I do not think you looked hard enough, igot one in that crummy metric system. You should hav gone to an arts or craft store , or one that sells techers aids for school.if you like you can have it the one i have , got a better method for rubber road wheels, and the dumb metric ruler. this is one cdn that thinks we shuold have stayed, non metric.
