I’m near finishing my DML 1/35 Tiger I Initial Production kit, and now that I’m almost finished assembling the tracks, I need to figure out what color to paint them. I have heard of many step-by-step processes of a base coat, wash, and dry-brushing (and pastels), but can’t remember any offhand. Also I would like some advice on how to realistically paint the mufflers on the back of the tank. Thx to everyone in advance!
Personally, I would try a wash of dark brown and then a very dry brush of a dark steel color for wear on the highlights. As for the mufflers, I would go easy on the rust. I see a lot of people going way overboard there. A little goes a long way *Opinons expressed herein are mine and mine only. This is not an absolute statement. Your mileage may vary.
I just finished my DML initial Tiger-1 about a hour ago[:D]Last thing i did was put on the last set of wheels and track on my tiger, then I was all done[8D]Been working on this thing since July. But i did put a full interior in mine.Looks [swg]sweet hope to have some picks up soon.All left now is a little lite weathering for me with some weathering powders.[tup][party]. Any way, for my tracks I painted them gunmetal then a lite wash of rust.For spare tracks hanging on my tiger just rust with some grime.As for the mufflers I used some liquid plastic cement on them, then sprinkle some backing soda on them to give a little texture.Then i painted them Burnt iron color after that rust looks cool. But dont over do it on the rust i also see guys go to far on the rust. I have seen the mufflers same color as the tiger are cover with mud to blend in with the tank in real pics good luck.
Are tracks normally prepainted from factory or do they have any other sort off anti oxidating?
