I just bought the Dragon’s 3 in 1 Tiger I late kit. That kit looks awesome and I really don’t know how to handle the photoeteched parts but I’ll make some research and I’m pretty sure I’ll find out.
But my question is: Was zimmerit standard on every Tiger or can I leave it clean? I’m not ready for that zimmerit thing and to be honnest, I don’t like the way it looks on a model.
It will also be my first experience with camouflage and my airbrush is not a very good one; cannot adjust pressure. Do you have some advice for me?
If you’re building a late, I’m afraid you gotta zimm it up. There are some AM zimm sets for this kit now, but in all honesty, zimming up a model is not that hard. I used to think so to before I gave it a shot, and its really not that difficult at all. Try researching several different methods, and try them out on scraps, then see which you’ll like the best.
Yep zok’s right, ya gotta zim it up… as for the cammo, you can use silly putty or playdough to mask off the areas to create a cammo pattern. An AB is only as good as the person wielding it… have confidence in yourself even if not in the AB. Good luck
Cavalier makes an aftermarket zimmerit set tailored to both the DML and Tamiya Tigers so if you find a supplier double chack and verify which one your ordering. Eduard does a photo-etched zimmerit too don’t know if they do the tigers but I heard the panther set they have is a little soft as far as detail goes.

Great idea! Thanks for the tip!
You can also thinly brush the camo on and blend it with washes and other weathering methods.
I builded up JagdTiger Sd.Kfz.186

sorry if this offends, you, but what in the world does that have to do with the original question?
All late tigers had zimmerit. The resin zimmerit sets look really nice. If you’re not confident, go with one of them rather than trying it yourself.
