Tiger I Camo color adjustment

I am finishing my standard 3 color camo on a Tiger I. I want to “meld” or “mute” the colors together to get a blended effect using my airbrush… A Forum search indicated that a light dusting of Tamiya buff would do this. My question is how thin should the buff mixture be and how Far away should the airbrush be from the tank surface to get this effect?

Thanks for your input!

Leddy,

I can’t comment on Tamiya paints and thinning ratios because I normally work in enamels, but if you go with a highly thinned ratio of around 90/10 thinner/paint you should be in the ballpark. Practice with it until it works right for your particular paint and airbrush setup. As for distance, the further away you are the more of an “overall” or “mist” coat effect will be achieved. Typically about 12" away works pretty good for what it sounds like you’re trying to accomplish but again, it will vary somewhat with your particular setup in terms of the paint dispersion pattern. HTH
