there all good books

I was making fun of the fact that they charge you the same for each book seperately or together!

The Restayn books are great for reference pics. They are inacccurate though.
The Jentz book, DW to Tiger I is probably the best out there for a one volume reference if your interested in how this developed as well as timeframes of when certain pieces were added. It has alot of pics, but not by unit as the Eastern and Western Front books are organized.
The MMIR Modeling the Tiger Tank is an excellent choice for modelling references including all the AM parts and such (It wasn’t available from Amazon a while back though)
The Tiger Projects 1 and 2 look very promising but concentrate on a particular commander so they may not have a lot on variants.
If I only had one choice it would be the Jentz book.

Just out of curisousity, why is they Tiger 1 on the Eastern Front/Western Front inaccurate? I just got it and found it pretty good, I want the Western Front Book also.

If I had one choice for a picture book … Tigers in combat Vol 1 or Vol 2 ( Vol 1 is army units Vol 2 is SS units ) but they are also the most expensive ones out there.
The eastern and western front books by Jean Restayn have lots of great pics at a reasonable price, but double check any text with other sources of reference before you believe it.
The MMIR book that ausf mentions is a great choice if you want some modeling advice aswell.
But if what you want is pictures and nothing but pictures, then its either Tiger I on the eastern / western front by Jean Restayn or Tigers in combat Vol 1 / 2 by Wolfgang Schneider. Eastern / Western front = reasonable price, but some errors in the text. Tigers in combat = expensive but also the best there is.

It’s been a while since I read the text of those, don’t get me wrong, they are excellent for the pics in both, but some of the information is a bit skewed, The whereabouts of the captured tanks come to mind, someone here should be along with a specific answer for you. The problems are well known, not something that I discovered myself.

I was just curious. This is my first Tiger book so I wasn’t sure of any variances in the text or anything like that, which is why I asked. I got it mainly for the reference of pics and the unit information is good also, is its right.

Is there one place where one can find all/most of these and other reference books? It seems I’ve gravitated to using Greatmodels for the majority of my purchases, and they will sell you books but they apparently don’t keep them in stock and the wait seems to be longer for them than model kits. ( been waiting a week now for the Panzer Colors I book with no end in sight) I’m interested in picking up the Eastern/Western front Tiger books as well as the Jentz/Doyle book on the Tiger I (P) (which they list as special order - God knows how long that will take[angel]). Thanks, Pete

Try Amazon first, they have most of the common ones and if you click on ‘used’ you’ll get a host of places that carry them and a lot more.

Some of the more obscure ones you can get straight from the publisher or you may try rzm.com. They tend to be pricey though.

Check Ebay for Larry’s books, I got a few from him and his prices are outstanding and customer service very good.

I’ve got the MMiR Tiger guide, and I like it. It is not the be all and end all of reference books, but it is a really good modeling guide. Lots of pics and line drawings of the changes from model to model. Apparently not 100% accurate, but still well worth it.

looks like I could start a small Toger Library
