I got the Jaguar cockpit into the Hasegawa bubbletop Typhoon this weekend. I had previously built the cardoor version, also using a Jaguar cockpit, and the fuselage plug made for the different versions fit MUCH better on the cardoor ! As you can see, I needed a strip of styrene ahead of the windscreen to fill the gap. Since the plug doesn’t follow a panel line behind the cockpit, a bit of filling & sanding was required.
I have a seam that popped behind the headrest that will be a [censored] to sand.
The separate forward cannon barrels are molded nicely round, with only the faintest mold parting lines. The intake under the spinner was nicely cast in resin by Jaguar.
I wish Jaguar had made the back piece for the radiator and the wheel wells also. Oh, well. We work with what we have ! The rocket rails are molded in two pieces each. There are the hard point attachments, and a VERY thin piece for just the rails. I broke a couple of these during cleanup - they are attached to the sprue at six different points ! As Elmer Fudd would say, “Be vewy, vewy, careful !”

Hi Pix, Nice looking … Did you scribe the panel lines and were they rised. I have my build getting ready for paint and was wondering if I should scribe of just remove the raised panel lines.

Great start Pix. I’ve built both versions of the kit & had trouble with the fuselage plug on one of them, but can’t recall which. Anyway, looks like you have it under control.

must admit i was VERY disappointed by the fit of the hassy fuselage…why they have that top section in 2 additional pieces i will never know…mine had more warp than star trek!![(-D][(-D][(-D]
GLEN S - the Hasegawa kit has recessed panel lines. There is some sanding slurry that hasn’t been removed, so they may appear raised.
Dragonfire - the only place that needs attention are the two pieces Hasegawa molded for the cockpit area of the fuselage. They use the same fuselage molds for both the cardoor & bubbltetop. Other than that, there weren’t any problems.
dj - it is easier for me to paint the rails installed. I still need to paint the wing leading edge stripe, but I have a plan for thet. As you can see in the pics below, I didn’t have any problems.
Nicholas - mine weren’t warped, but they weren’t wide enough ahead of the windscreen
As I hoped, I got to paint the bird today. I used Model Master enamels. The bottom color was masked off, and the top colors were soprayed freehand. It looks a lot better to me with paint !.
