Tie Fighter - Finished pics - Thank you

Here are some pics of a kit recently completed by my son, Jimmy

This is AMT/Ertyl Tie fighter - no scale labeled

He assembled, painted and weathered the kit himself. I showed him what to do and was only called in as an advisor when things didn’t quite go well.

He had a terrible time with the fit on many peices. Many were out of line and lots of gaps. There was a lot of white glue used to fill the voids.

He also won first place in his junior category at NorEastCon

Here’s the pics

Wow, tell him that is a GREAT looking TIE. How old is he? Looking forward to seeing more of his work.

Thanks, MarinR00,

I will tell him. He will probably be checking back. He’s 14. He’s was excited about displaying it here.

Thanks

Jimmy you are a great modeler. I would be happy to make a model next to you. You have a great advisor too. [:D] Great modeling job and CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR WIN!

wow great job , no wonder you won

i think it has the right amount of panel lines filled in

Jimmy…WOW! That is one great looking Tie. Know what you mean about the fit I put mine back in the box. [sigh]

Great looking TIE! I can visualize it screaming down the Death Star trench picking off hapless Y-Wings. Very nice, thank you for showing us.[8D]

Jimmy ,

Good job looks better than the guys at LucasArts can do , if I can be so bold , A+

Walt

I have this same kit and it’s a bear. He really did an excellent job putting it together and filling seams. Excellent weathering job. Great build!! Keep up the good work.

A very well deserved win. The weathering along the panels is superb. Congratulations! [:D]

Dang, 14 years old and already a better modeler than me!! I’m jealous, and VERY impressed!! [:P][wow]

That looks great! Build, tell you modeling padawan he’s impressing the forum.

my father said I could reply to this myself

thank you for your comments

it was quite a pain when the pieces didn’t match up [banghead]

actually i built and painted it a few years ago
but after I learned a little more about weathering and finishing I decided to improve it about 3 months ago
it also was a pain to find the exact paint after i threw away the containers

thanks again for the nice comments

Jimmy

Excellent job on the fighter and congrats on the win, Jimmy!

Regards, Dan

A great Tie Fighter, congrats on the win.

There’s only one “person” who can judge this model you know;

It seems Obi-Wan has taught you well Jimmy…

boybuddho and Dave Toews: thank you for your comments on the Tie

der_jackal: hysterical pic [(-D] my father and i both got a kck out of it. thank you or the comment

Jimmy

Nice job Jimmy
I built that TIE fighter about 20+ years ago when I was about 14 and let me tell you, mine didn’t look anything like that. I don’t remember about the fit what I do remember is that I painted the whole thing flat black.

Thank you RAF120 for your comment on the Tie

I am sorry you did not have as much luck with it

Thank you again

Jimmy

Thanks guys for your kind comments to Jimmy’s efforts.

All your comments were a warm welcome and great encouragement. He greatly appreciated it.

I appreciate it as well

Thank you
