I could really use a little help and I hope this is the right place. I do alot of armor models but I rarely ever clean off the grab handles and tie-downs on the kits and instead leave the molded ones in place.
This really bugs me because most kits have rather poor tie-downs. I have seen some excellent models displayed here with tie-downs done in copper wire, but I never have much success myself with it. I seem to have the most trouble with uniformity actually. Never the same twice.
I am sure there is an excellent way to make a jig for this process, but I never seem to make one strong enough.
Anyone here have any tips for this? I would be forever grateful!
I find a pair of true “round nose” pliers just the thing for tie-downs, eyebolts and the like. That is about all I use them for, but they sure come in handy for that. I generally make stuff like that out of K&S brass rod- copper wire is generally quite soft. The K&S brass stuff is hardened.
