The countdown begins:
Here is the story, sportsfans. I am trying to do something I have not done in a while (ever??) - build a model, from start to finish, in less than a month (typically, less than a year is an achievement for me [:P]). I have started on Tristar’s PzKpfw 38(t) and, my goal, is to have it ready to show at AMPSEast on the 26th. So, considering I started it on the 1st, I have exactly 25 days to do this project.
So here is my running commentary (another attempt to accomplish something I have never done before - keep a good thread going on one of my builds!.. I’m such a horrible adult… [:I])
OK, so I open the box on 1 September and this is what I’ve got:

The first step is (no surprise here) constructing the suspension and running gear. I was a little daunted, but then pleasantly surprised with this suspension - some tiny pieces, but it is all functional… pretty cool actually:

Step one took me until after midnight (I think I started at 10:00-ish) so I left off there and headed to bed
2 September, Step 2: construction of the hull:
Even though it is all individual flat pieces, which made me nervous, it went together pretty darn easily:

3 Septemberr, Step 3: attach the running gear:
I only attached the suspension and drive sprockets since the rest if off in the paint booth:

Articulation…

So, wish me luck… we’ll see if I can actually pull this off.
By the way, Schnobs, if you happen to check in here, I wanted to let you know that I was glad you built your Tristar Pz I before I started this - kinda gave me an idea of what I was getting into. I know you had a lot of trouble with your kit, but from what I see, I would say that you just happened to get a ‘horse with a bum leg’ - this one is going together really nicely (so far - knock on wood). So, don’t hesitate to try another Tristar kit…
