Thunderbird decals.....

…ACK!! I haven’t had any luck finding a decal kit for this Academy F-16 Thunderbird I’m right in the middle of building. I can’t go any farther with it until I get the undercarriage either decaled or painted, and I ain’t good enuff, (YET!) to paint the bird. Been to Cam, Squadron, and Great Models. Anyone got any other ideas?

I can get the decals from R/M for their kit for 3 buxx…I wonder if they would work for me on this Academy kit.

Freekin Academy decals are tooooooooooo thin!

Here’s another look at my BA Scooter.

You may have to trim and/or use paint to use the RM decals, but it might be worth it. I have used decals for a different kit and it is easier than painting all the markings! Good luck!!!

$3 for a complete set of T Bird decals sounds like an excellent deal. The older Monogram decals were pretty thick and glossy which made them essentially unuable for serious modelers. The newer kits are much better.
As long as both kits are the same scale, the fit should be at least close. You may have to do a little paint touch up if two different parts of the belly bird dont match or quite make it to a wing edge, etc. The wing and stab tip stripes can be repositioned enough to fit. You will probably have to paint a good portion of the red on the nose, no matter what decals you use. Decals just won’t go around that much of a compound curve.
