Those darn russian lakes keep yeilding up treasure after treasure. Lots of Pics

Sorry if some of this has been posted here before, but some is still quite amazing expecially the condition of the paint after all these years. enjoy. BIll

Man, that is crazy stuff. Some of those tanks are pretty darn good condition. Hopefully a museum or something will try and refurb them. A Grille no less, that’s a little rare.

Instant museum, just remove water!

Nice pics!

Don

Just amazing!!

Makes one wonder what kind of A/C are scattered all over the Pacific theatre too.

Thanks for the picts.

yea but those will be eroded like crazy.

the condition these things are in are incredible. now is that stug wearing a winter white wash or was that really our so called dunkelgelb… if that’s the case then the suggestion to use MM’s FS33531 Sand really isn’t so far fetched.

great photos

Very cool, I need to go to Russia lol.

Most of these are very well preserved , due in part from what I understand to the fact that these bogs have water with very, very, low dissolved oxygen content in the water .
The metal gets preserved very well in these conditions .
I heard a story of a T-34 that just needed to be dried out and the motor cleaned up a bit and the thing fired right up , not sure if that is true or not , but who knows .

I hope they fix some of these babies up to working condition again , that “Grille” is especially kool although it looks a bit beat up .

Wow, some amazing pics. These things look to be in remarkably good condition after more than 5 decades.

Is there a web site where you can read more about this and see more pics? THX

russia still has many more secrets and stories to give to the world

it is only the last 15-20 yrs they have begun to allow us less restricted access to what is a very beautiful place

awsome link dude–i cant get over the great condition on those tanks[:D]-- maybe the russians will be selling them on E-bay!!!-- i’ll chip in!-- treadwell

Wow. Thanks for the pictures. I am always amazed what comes out of the bogs/lakes in eastern europe. So far, my favorite has been the recovery of a JS-2 somewhere in Poland, I think. From what I could see, it was intact and looked as if it could be started on the spot. I have also seen some pictures of partially intact german airframes. Let’s hope a museum gets these vehicles and restores them to good condition.

I read alittle russian… The tanks may be in the old USSR… but that web page is in Czech. ( I think) But great pic’s anyway! CAVALRY

The Russians recently sold off a LOT of arms from WWII up through the coldwar. PPSh machine guns, T-34s, etc

also, you can legaly own and drive a tank (demilled) on public roads. I have seen sales of Yugoslavian T-72s among others. Jesse James of WCC has a “tank” but it’s kindof like a bren armored car, I dont remember exactly what it was.

I soooo want to buy a T-34/85 I saw in an add in Men’s Journal. It would look soooo cool in my front yard. My wife disagrees… LOL

Fantastic pics! My favorite is the T-34 in German markings [;)]

As for aircraft in the Pacific area, by the time they find them, they are practically nothing but a lump of soft aluminum paste in a vague skeletal shape. This is because of a combination of the salt water and current/wave action that constantly strips the protective oxidized layer off the metal.

You see, these tanks were preserved if a fresh water lake, not salt water, which will eat stainless steel, even! [:(]

Very nice.
