As you can see, those cables have been
sent to weight watchers, given a diet
low in iron and have now joined the ranks
of other [:D] happy cables. Forthcoming pictures
(contingent to the weather around here) will
soon display the installed units.
When I originally did this, I messed up the finish.
It just wasn’t right to my liking. So, I stripped all of
the original paint job and in the process stripped
most of the detail too. A lot of time & effort lost.
Disgusted, [:(] I took it apart to use as spares
And was going to write it off. I then started on
the “KONIGSTIGER” and completed that project.
It just bugged me not to finish what I started
so I rounded up all the original parts out of my
spares box and rebuilt the dang thing all over.
So……, you can see why I was loosing interest
and wanted to move on to something else. I was
going to do another “snow job” but decided
to go with the camo as planned.
I used a lot of washes and added pastels
to achieve the final result. I’ve seen pigments
and their use but I can get the same or better
results at a fraction of the cost. I do things in
a simplistic rudimentary manner, always
experimenting with some of the thoughts
(the modeling ones) that keep me awake at night.
[:)] Your generous appraisal of my efforts has
justified many sleepless nights. Thank you
very much.
Thanks Yann. “Masterpiece?” Wow, coming from an engineer, I’m truly flattered. With the beauties you have been turning out, I can really appreciate your evaluation. Rethanks!
Yep, from now on, (when it is
convenient) I will be posing pictures in the
sunlight as it is the way I intend the model
to be viewed. Indoor lighting just doesn’t do
‘em any justice.
I have taken my builds to IPMS contests in the
past and didn’t even get a mention. The one
thing that is an ever present deciding factor is
the lighting. Lighting is everything. Bad lighting
always kicks me out. Can’t judge a model proper
in the dark, right?
Inversely, good lighting (which brings out
the color qualities) most always gets me first
place or Best Armor. It’s frustrating. One contest
(out of 80 entries) I get “BEST ARMOR”, next
contest, (20 to 30 entries-same subject)
well, …… I don’t even place. We’ll see how this
event goes tomorrow when I enter this and two
others in the competiton.
To me, these pictures look just as they
would look in real life out there in the
backyard. (but actually in the bed
of my pick-up truck)
So, there you have it.
My take on the universe.
Okay guys, here’s what you been
waitin’ for…….
I think the spare tracks on the hull came
out very well in the first two shots of the left side:
A little higher up……
The rolled plate texture of the tank shows up
well on the superstructure in this next shot.
Next a good right side picture.
Wheel & track close-up.
some frontal shots…………
Next and lastly, here it is loosely placed
on that base I patched together for a display.
All the colors show up better but I don’t
think I’m going to use it after all.
I decided to put these on as a continuation
of the original instead of posting the same
subject on another thread.
These pictures just show that a little extra
effort can go a very long way. Hope you guys
enjoy this and that it helps to inspire you.
hey steve![:D]–the new pics are awsome my friend!!-- i personally like the ones (on the new set ) that are towards the darker look— you have resurected an awsome looking beast-- your work is ,in my opinion, very ‘artsy’-- and i mean that in the best possible way- love it— tread[:P]
treadwell Hot Dog! “The” T-34 speaketh! I’m so glad to share the “minds eye” with such a qualified modeler! You are seeing this subject exactly as I meant it. Artsy is what I do. Th Dark & menacing. “That is” my forte. This is an almost mythical, yet sinister reminder of the dark and uncertain times when the reich and the “seemingly” unstoppable power of german armor ruled supreme over the battlefield……… (“Okay Steve…… put the book down now” ) I knew you would know what those wires were for. Anyone that could tackle that “over the top” T-34 project would just have to have a large inventory of information. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you…… and that is also meant in the very best way. This is three dimensional art and armor is the subject.

Looking forward to seeing your T-34 project finished. I try to reply to everyone on a one to one. Thanks for your opinion. I’m glad to be done with this one. Steve
