This hobby is gonna get messy...

Yep it has begun. I am nearing completion of my first model and I have aready let the ebay bug hit me and started my model collection. I see some of you guys have closets full of kits and now I am understanding the addiction. Add to the fact that the closest decent hobby shop is over an hour from home I may have to start getting my supplies online. I am being very patient with this model I have on the bench now but find when the work is done I want to do more but have nothing else to work on. (I have been told patience is paramount and I am trying to obey the laws of scale model nature) So anyways I went out and over the past week bid on several models on Ebay. I am now the proud owner of a 1/48 Accurate Miniatures IL2 (I love that plane) as well as 2 Monogram kits. A JU-88C-6 and a DO 217E-5 both in 1/48. Not sure if they are good kits or not but the price was right and they will be good for future projects. I’ll try and finish up my BF109 kit within the next 2 weeks or so then dig into the IL2. The 2 other kits seem a bit more complicated and I’ll wait until I get a little time in the saddle before I break the seal on them. Damn this is a great hobby. I just wished I discovered it sooner. …now how do I explain the checkbook deduction from the wife???

Lie through your teeth like most of us do …

So is your new hobby buying kits or building them?

Welcome to the forum … I hope you are going to share pictures of your first completion.
Regards,
Bruce

Welcome to the asylum!!! Just wait till you start looking for the PE and resin sets BEFORE buying a kit! Then it starts getting REALLY silly!! [(-D][(-D][(-D][#welcome]

You haven’t gotten to the next stage in the addiction yet! Wait until you have all those kits partially built and never finish any because you keep buying and starting new ones. I have four in different levels of completion because the one I just bought always looks like more fun than the one I am working on [:)]

And don’t forget the after market decals. I think thats an addiction in itself.

I second this one! I have an Accurate Miniatures Kit staring me in the face… the temptation to go at it is incredible!!! [:D]

Yes, patience is paramount but having three or four going on the bench is very nice also. [:D]

yep, i started 5 models and they’re all in the cockpit painting phase now except for one thats gonna get strung up from the cieling(i dont even bother with cockpits if i hang them from the cieling). i have 4 resin pits i’m painting and boy is it fun!!! i’m like you, i find that when i finish a step and have to wait until something dries before i go on, i just got into the groove. in order to get my fix, i have to have more than 3 or 4 models going to be able to get the joy of modelling in its rarest form. i also live 80 miles from the nearest hobby shop so every trip to the big city i’m buying 2 or 3 kits and just love to get back home and rummage through the package and stare and read over the instructions in anticipation of the build. welcome to the forum and happy modelling my friend. later.

Yeh, and we haven’t even gotten to Tools, Paints. Reference material or air compressors. Oh well, I figure its a whole lot easier to hide a couple of 1/24 kits than say a new Bass Boat or a 1 to 1 Super Cub.

Hey! Homer, Shrike …How about all of us we can a “GB Accurate Miniatures Kit” what do think?? Im calling all people!!
Ive got a Ill2-M3! 2 seater. [}:)][:D]

count me in the accurate minitures camp, from the Yak 1’s, Il-2’s and the B-25b that I bought for a song about 3-4 yrs ago. And welcome to the hobby Homer! I’ll second the before mentioned posts regarding the piles of paint, tools, etc that will soon follow-hang on, and enjoy![8D]

Hey all I to am on my way back after a 15 year sleep. I have to tell ya even after that time away the bug bites hard the SECOND you walk in the shop. Someone mentioned earlier in this post that you know youre addicted when you are searching for aftermarket stuff for a kit you havent bought yet…welcome to my world  I am doing that now for my first model in 15 years…Hasegawa’s 1:48 P-51D. I will post pics as I go along.

ebay has been responsible for my growing collection as well. I just can’t help myself when I see a lot of 5 models and nobody’s bid on them and then I end up getting it for under $10.

Hey cool your first model is done what is it?

Hey visit the 1/48 Bomber Modelers Forum, we got alot of people in there that I am sure would love to give you advice.
