Yep, those prices are extremely high, I’d rather spend such an amount of money on other things. For $ 12,000 you can buy a car, for instance.
It’s capitalism plain and simple. He’d like $1000 for it, but he’ll get what it’s worth to somebody, which looks to be around $200+ at this stage, which may or may not meet the reserve price. The final bid price is probably what can be considered the “true” value of what he built. Nobody has to like it, nobody has to buy it; so if he can make a profit on it, more power to him.

Lookign at the pictures, and the incredible detail. Ands the facat that they are made fo metal, I find the price to be pretty much what you shoudl expext for that level of craftsmanship. I’m sure they spend alot of time building them.
Having build Models on commission and also sold quiet a few builds of mine, I have to say that I don’t think what he is asking is that unreasonable.
I have seen Resin Anime kits(original price 72USD) sell for USD800+ and you could still see where the parts were joined, etc. And some of those Kits can be done in a single weekend.
At the same time I have seen Diorama build buy some of the top-modelers go for less than USD75 because nobody was interested.
Same also holds true for many Plastic models I see out there. 1/100 GunPla are being sold for USD500+, etc.
It is really a Buyers market and it is very hard for the seller to set a price that will guarantee a sale.
