Third attempt… SR-71 Blackbird

Well, here is my third attempt at model building. This one was not that hard since there is little painting that needed to be done, but the decals is what was a little tricky.

Suggestions, comments and/or reviews….

Looks good from this angle Polo! I’ve always had an interest in this bird and built one as a kid but it didn’t turn out this good. For pictures sake try to take a photo with an all white background on this beauty. The snowflakes and pawprints don’t lend themselves to bringing the image and color of the model out very well. LOL . Really though, nice build.

Looks very nice. What kit & scale is it ?

It was a Revell 1:72 scale.

Also, note to self: no snow flakes or paw prints… got it.

Nice clean job! Love the blackbird.

One thing to keep in mind is that decals will stick (or adhere) to paint much, much better than just plain old plastic. Not sure why that is, but I do know it to be a fact. So, if the decals start “unsticking” themselves, that’s probably why. Been there, done that!!

The Black Bird looks great! You’re doing great for only your third build.

Beautiful build! Especially for only your third build. As far as decals go, yes the stick better to paint than bare plastic, but they will eventually lift from that too if not sealed in with a top coat. Decals adhere best to a gloss surface. And then put on a top coat of gloss or flat clear afterwards for long term display. As far as plain background goes, a plain white bed sheet works great, or large sheet of white paper. In either case it highlights the model for any photos. Again, very nice work on your 3rd build. certainly three is a charm here.

Oops… Forgot to mention the “shiny, glossy” part. Thanks, Stik!
