Does anyone use this paint if so what do you use to thin it with? I am keen to give my new paints a go on the Spitfire I have just primed but am at a loss as what trhinner to use as I dont have any Vallejo thinner.

Distilled water works great, do you have Model Air or Model Color Vallejo? If it is Model Air it should be thin enough to spray, at most 10% distilled water to 90% paint will do. Model color would need thinning a little more, maybe a 3:1 ratio, it is on the vallejo site somewhere:
I just looked and they recommend anywhere from a 3:1 to 2:1 thinning of paint to water.
Good luck! With a little practice I think you will come to love these paints like I have… they really put down a smooth finish and bond fairly well for acrylic. I do recommend getting some of their Model Air thinner which has a retarder and bonding agent in it…
Thanks for the info, I am using the Model Air range of paints. What are the metalics like as I have a T6 Texan I am doing in South African markings for my Father (He flew in one on holiday and loved it) and it is silver with orange details.
I haven’t used the metallics range, although I seem to remember hearing favorable reports on them. I have been using Alclad 2 (www.alclad2.com) as my metallizer of choice, with wonderful results… but recent have I been checking out Floquil “Old Silver” as a substitute… I saw it in several reviews for NMF colored planes and I liked the look of it and I am wondering if it might be a little easier to apply than Alclad, but still provide pleasing results… I’m going out tomorrow and get me a bottle!
