Greetings All, I.ve read here in the posts about using 3m Blue body putty, I picked some up and practiced a bit with it. My question is there a solvent/thinner that mixes with the blue putty to thin it with. Also curious to here from anyone who has worked with it and has any tips. Thank You.

Regular cellulose thinners thins it, but because the thinners evaporate so quickly your thinned mix will “un-thin” pretty quickly. I find mixing a small batch & putting it into something like an empty Tamiya paint jar quite handy, as you can keep the mix indefinitely.
Don’t put the stuff where you don’t want it, as it can melt plastic & don’t put it on to deep in one go, build it up in layers if you have a deep gap (it dries quickly anyway).

You can thin 3M Blue Putty with simple 91% Alcohol. Add some and mix it up… no issues with melting plastic etc. I made the switch from squadron putty to the 3M a few months ago and I couldnt be more pleased with the results!
Thanks for the tip Mike. I was looking for something that would work well. Like you I just tried the Blue Putty for the first time straight out of thr tube and was delighted with the results. But the need to thin it became apparent with how fast it dried. The other issue I found is that it is not the easiest material to rescribe as it is brittle and tends to break small chunks off. Thinning may help this. I have also found that supplementing with Mr Surfacer 500 to better feather the edges of the putty works very well, Thanks again.
