Thinking about buying this T-80 kit, is it good?

Hey folks,

Here I am, brought another aircraft model in for a succesful completion and am taking a break from wings for a bit.

Last weekend I bought Revell Germany’s 1/72 Leclerc T.5 and with the exception of the extra fuel tanks, its going quite well.

Anyway…

At the same time I bought that, I saw a 1/72 T-80 kit by Revell Germany, it had current Russian markings and ERA bricks on it. I was thinking about going back to buy it this weekend, but I was hoping someone could give me some insight into it first.

A few years back, I bought a 1/72 T-80 by Monogram and was quite disapointed by its general lack of detail.

Is this Revell Germany kit a new tooling or is it a reissue of that old Monogram kit with a few extras thrown in?

From what I’ve seen of Revell Germany’s 1/72 armor kits, I’m quite impressed by them, does this T-80 kit measure up to other kits in their 1/72 armor range?

They are the same kit with the addition of the ERA sprues. For a short while, Revell of Germany released new 1/72 armor in Matchbox and Monogram boxes. The current Revell M4A1 Sherman showed up in both a Matchbox and Monogram box. The Matchbox kit came in white (Battle of Bulge markings) and the Monogram kit was in OD.

Any way, the Monogram T-80 is the same kit as the Revell T-80 and Revell T-80BV. Eduard makes a PE set for it #22012 and it does help.
