Things I've learned when putting together a model recently

  1. Its been a few years since I put together a car model and I’m still sloppy with the cement glue LOL

  2. Wait until you complete the model and then paint

  3. the Beatnik Bandit’s body chassis is a pain to glue together. Its not what I expected LOL

  4. If the chrome pieces are just way too damn small then forget it. I aint putting them on LOL

I’m 30 years old and been putting together models since I was a teenager. My personal favorites were the Knight Rider KITT Car a couple of years ago and back in 2000 or 2001 I had a Paddy Wagon model that included a police hat and billy club which was weird LOL

Hang on to this one. In five years time you’ll look at it and laugh. I still have a few that were my first when I came back …They will have to make way for new arrivals soon tho.

I had the original 1968 Hotwheel of Beatnick Bandit.

By all means, keep these first efforts around so you can look back on them and smile to yourself. I got back into the hobby in 2005 after, ummm, decades off - and my first kit was a 1/700 resin ship kit. Talk about an initiation! But I made it. Or it made me … anyway, it looked more or less like a ship when I finished with it.

And it resides in its own case, just like all the other efforts to date (very few, I’m slowww), where I can look at it from time to time and absorb the messages - Don’t Get Cocky. Your Next Build Will Always Be Better. Sooner Or Later, You Have To Declare A Build Finished. Don’t Think About Trying Something New, Just Do It And See What Happens. Etc., Etc. [t$t]

Hi mfsob! Well , you are right there. It seems like the closer to finished I get ,I find something else that can go here or there. It is like an itch. BUT,you eventually have to stand back and say FINIS! The rut is easy to fall into. I was doing a liner last year and as I looked at her before the final painting I decided the portholes(ALL 765 of them) needed to be drilled out. Now,why did I do that?? See what I mean. Anyway I know whereof you speak.Happy modeling —tankerbuilder

I used 2 part epoxy to put togetheer the frame. The rest is not too tough but the decals are a little tricky!
