Built this one out of the box with no extras.
Spray can finish on the bodywork and Tamiya acrylics applied with both brush and airbrush on the rest. Some polishing before decals and then a go with some wax.
Well, on tothe pics:

Niclas- You have done a Fantastic Job on this “Old School” Funny Car. I’m old enough to remember when the Coppers had the “Bubble Gum Machines” on their cars…[:-^] What kit manufacture was this ? This is one Sharp looking build [tup], hope to see more of your work !
I LOVE IT!!!
Seriously, a great build–very beautiful finish, and decalling. What a cool car!
Thank you guys!
The kit is dated 1971, a year after I started building modells. Saw it the first time in the 70’s, big brother of a friend had it on the shelf and man did it rise some envy.
Took me about 35 years to get me my own kit, speaking of kit, it’s an old Monogram. A spin-off from two other funny cars, Snake and Mongoose Dusters.
Sure was a blast to build and the kit must have been a sensation in it’s time as it still holds up very well. No problems to build at all, the only thing that took some work was to get the separation line on the rear slicks down to a minimum. Thank’s to super glue it was fixable, a hefty portion of that and then let it dry thoroughly before treating them with sanding sticks.
Thank’s for the comments!

Ah yes I do remember those two piece slicks very well, somethings would be Best not to remember… I can only find one Funny Car in my stash - a 1/16 Jungle Jim Vega I thought I had a Johan Mustang somewhere. Sure would like to find a Duster like yours - off to ebay [8-]
Try this instead of Ebay, Hobbylinc That’s where I got my CopOut from.

they re-released this kit too though, I saw it down at Hobby Lobby yesterday when I went to pick up some paint, it was labeled as an “basic builder” though
you can find it pretty cheap on ebay though, both that and the old white boxed monogram one

Yupp, that’s the one I got. Just under $10 at that time.

LOLOL!!!
I can remember SEVERELY screwing up this kit as a kid… but still putting it on my shelf. I’m pretty sure that it was the first car I ever did.
Great job on it, though! I may have to revisit this one sometime… I may even still have the original one I built in a box somewhere.
That has renewed my desire to finish my Revelloution Duster FC. That kit was never reissued and I thought about keeping it but heck it was made to be built. Just like my 1-1’s I gotta drive’em!!!
