Thanx for the video! I always loved F4s…Its funny you posted this today. Last night the History Channel had a special on called boneyards and it had all the aircraft put in mothball storage out in Arizona…anyway there was a segment about F4s. There is a company out there outfitting old F4s as remote controlled drones for our pilots to have supersonic targets to hunt during training. It almost broke my heart to watch it, but at least they get one more shot at flying and arent rotting in the Arizona desert anymore! If you get a chance check it out, they will definitely air it again soon.[:)]
haha, i was watching the same show last night. they refered to that as the “glorious end”. man the F-4’s exhaust gives it such a good looking tight stance.
There were two QF-4Es at the Andrew’s AFB Open House. They were both done up in SEA camo. One of the pilots told me that they always keep a couple of birds dressed up because of the volume of aishow and VIP events that they are requested to attend.
That brings back a lot of memories. I worked on the F-4 for over twenty years in the USAF. I can still remember the smell of JP-4 and can close my eyes and still picture the cockpits. I can’t remember what I had for breakfast this morning.[:)]
hmm. I’d have to say the phantom is prolly my second favorite jet (i can’t stand jets really, but that and the B-1 are exceptions). Glad to see it in the air!
It will indeed be sad day when the last F-4 makes it’s last flight. It looks like some of the foreign countries will still be flying them for several years.
