Thanks for the info, but the darkside knew allready, but thanks!
How sad, but true. Man why can’t they get that baby in a WW II movie? Come on, please somebody due her justice.
Amen, Tigerman. I’m still upset at the Patton movie and the lack of realistic WWII tanks.
Tigerman,
Well maybe now that at least there is one in running condition, I believe it will be in a film one of these coming days.
Besides, I think the museum could use the money for other restoration works.
Saving Pvt. Ryan and Band of Brothers had a tiger 1, but it was a t-34 hull conversion[V]! Still looked convincing though, except for the five roadwheels and the cheesy treads! But nice try steven.
I doubt you’ll ever see that in a movie…too much at stake. To film, especially a subject like a war, requires a lot. The Tiger would be put through it’s paces just to get a single shot, let alone the logistics of transportation and the necessary painting and weathering and pyrotechnics. Even if it could be insured and permission granted to use it, a producer would be unlikely to take a chance on a piece of equipment that might break down halfway through and ruin the shoot. On top of that, would you want your film known as the one that broke the only remaining Tiger?
Maybe someone would do a documentary on it, that would be cool.
Ryan, that T-34/Tiger was also used in Kelley’s Heroes.
Good point Dwight about the museum raking in profits from the lending out of the Tiger.
Ausf…you’re probably right though, too much at stake. One wonders how reliable the engine would be.
Nice restoration. would have love to take a ride with it.
BTW< it appears that it is using the “transportation Tracks”, not the traditional off road tracks. Perhaps they are trying to be gentle on the drivetrain. Bill
Its not using the Transport tracks there the real deal battle tracks
If they were using the transport treads, the first 2 layers of road wheels would be off. tigerman’s Sig picture has a tiger with transport treads…
Yep, Your right, My fault. They are the regular tracks. Oh well, back to the drawing board. LOL Bill
